Peter Pan, by J.M. Barrie, chapter 6 [13 May 2004|04:15pm]

The second to last sentence is kind of amusing, that it's in this book and all. I only wish the ebook people would do some explaining in brackets! Ahahaha...

Peter Pan, by J.M. Barrie, part 5 [12 May 2004|03:15pm]

I have to say, I find it amusing that this ebook likes to randomly explain what things mean in brackets.

Anon [later]

Thank you, ebook people. *snerk* I really wish there was a version without that, or that I had the time to go through and take them out.

So, with 38.9% of the votes, it seems our second book is going to be Peter Pan by J.M. Barrie! I'll post the first section tomorrow afternoon. :)

poll time [04 May 2004|05:12pm]

karabou
So, I thought, why bother to wait for Wednesday for the poll? I've decided to have a children's lit. theme, so I hope you all, or at least most of you!, don't mind. Though if this isn't what you want to read, next poll will have 'adult' stories, so keep an eye out. :)

Here's the poll, please vote!

Poll #288686 Children's lit.

the second book should be...

The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett
8(20.0%)
Peter Pan by J. M. Barrie
16(40.0%)
A Connecticut Yankee In King Arthur's Court by Mark Twain
3(7.5%)
The Wonderful Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum
2(5.0%)
Around the World in 80 Days by Jules Verne
8(20.0%)
The Railway Children by E. Nesbit
3(7.5%)

The time has come to choose another book!

I'd like to keep doing short stories, but I'd also like to know what you guys think. So feel free to look around the Project Gutenberg site (go to Find An Ebook) and tell me one or two books you'd be interested in reading in this entry's comments.

If you don't want to look through the entire site, you can check out some suggestions from last time, and also the last poll. I'll probably try to keep some of the titles that recieved a good amount of votes from the last poll for the next one. -- Remember, I can't use anything not available on Project Gutenberg, and nothing that lists as copyrighted!

I'll probably set up a poll either tomorrow night, or Wednesday afternoon, depending on how much response I get.

It turns out I messed up and posted some kind of shortened version of Dorian Gray. Being totally unfamiliar with the story I didn't know that there should be more than 13 chapters, and I ended up posting the '13 chapters version'. So apparently some stuff was taken out, but there is the 20 chapters version available here if anyone wants to read what they missed. Sorry about this! :/

The Picture of Dorian Gray, by Oscar Wilde, part 13 [30 Apr 2004|03:28pm]

karabou
It's the final chapter! Read, talk about stuff, etc so on, and next week I'll do a post for people to suggest a new book. I'd like to keep it to short stories, but I'll post about that later. In the meantime, the conclusion...
